If you want to know more about Wonder and choosing kindness, check out this link.
Have you ever wondered how a real author gets ideas? Well, we met an author today, and she shared with us the story behind her book, Wonder! Her name is Raquel Jaramilla, otherwise known by her pen name, R.J. Palacio. She told us about a personal experience when she failed to be kind and regretted it. Instead of just feeling bad about it, she decided to write a book that would inspire kindness and empathy. Who ever knew that a mistake could turn into a best-seller? Everyone has stories. What has happened to you that could inspire others?

I should probably mention that this post was not actually written by our class! It was written by a group if teachers at the Michigan Reading Association 2014 Annual Conference as part of my presentation on using blogging as shared writing. They were excited to see how we do it in our class and try it out themselves!
